Common Mistakes at a Strip Act in Belgium (and How to Avoid Them)

A strip act can be the highlight of your party, if you get it right. Most evenings that disappoint go wrong on the same few points: booked too late, too little space, guests who have no idea what is coming. Below are the seven mistakes we see most often in Belgium, each with its solution.

Mistake 1: Booking too late

Good performers fill up fast, especially on Fridays and Saturdays and in May, June and December. If you only start looking the same week, you have less choice.

Mistake 2: Too little space

A performer in a crammed living room or a narrow bar back room cannot deliver a show. That costs you the performance and the atmosphere.

Solution: make sure you have at least 3 by 3 metres of free floor for a solo act and 4 by 4 metres for a duo. Clear away furniture and fragile items. Use our checklist for preparing the space.

Mistake 3: Guests who know nothing

A surprise sounds fun, but if nobody is expecting a strip act, it gets awkward for the guests and for the performer.

Mistake 4: A vague address

"The white gate next to the chip shop" is not an address. The performer loses time, arrives stressed and your timing falls apart.

Solution: give the full address when booking, with floor, doorbell and parking options. Partying in the centre of Antwerp, Ghent or Brussels? Mention the low-emission zone or a nearby car park as well.

Mistake 5: Expectations not aligned

Every performer has their own style. If you have a specific costume, theme or type of act in mind and do not say so, you end up with a show that differs from what you hoped for.

Mistake 6: The act too late in the evening

After midnight, once the beers and the cava have been flowing for a few hours, a group gets louder and less respectful. That is the worst moment for an act.

Solution: schedule the strip act halfway through the evening, when everyone is present and warmed up but still clear-headed. That keeps it enjoyable for everyone.

Mistake 7: No changing room

The performer needs to change and prepare. Without a separate room the show starts awkwardly, and you lose the element of surprise too.

Solution: provide a separate room or screened-off corner with a mirror, good light and a chair for clothes. In a rented venue, ask the owner for this in advance.

Bonus: filming without asking

Phones go up automatically. But filming without permission is not okay and can stop the show.
