Preparing Your Space for a Strip Act in Belgium: Checklist

A good strip act starts before the first note of music. Ten minutes of preparation takes care of sight, sound and privacy, and gives the performer the room to deliver a show that fits your party. Use this checklist whether you are celebrating at home in Hasselt or have rented a venue in Bruges.

    Floor and room to move

    • At least 3 by 3 metres of free floor space for a solo act, 4 by 4 metres for a duo.
    • No coffee table, chairs or other obstacles in the performance area.
    • The floor is clean and not slippery: wipe up spilled drinks first.
    • There is room to move around the guests, not just in front of them.

    Sight and lighting

    • Dimmable or mood lighting, no harsh fluorescent light.
    • Guests sit or stand so everyone can see. Put the birthday guest or the bride at the front.
    • Curtains closed or windows screened from neighbours and passers-by.
    • No bright lamp shining straight into the performer's eyes.

    Sound and music

    • A Bluetooth speaker or sound system is ready and tested.
    • The volume can go up without the neighbours or the venue owner knocking on the door.
    • Agreed with the performer: do they bring their own music or do you play a playlist?
    • Someone is in charge of the music, so the show does not stall because a phone rings.

Tips for choosing music are in music, themes and outfits for a strip act.

    Changing room for the performer

    • A separate room or screened-off corner to change.
    • A mirror and enough light.
    • A chair or hook for clothes and bag.
    • A toilet nearby that does not require walking through the party room.

    Privacy and surroundings

    • Only the guests who belong are present. No minors.
    • Doors closed, so nobody walks in unexpectedly.
    • Renting a venue? Tell the owner an act is coming, so there are no surprises afterwards.
    • Agreements about filming are made. Read our rules on filming and photography.

    Guests and timing

    • Some of the guests know that "something" is coming and help build the mood.
    • There is a host who welcomes the performer and keeps the group in check.
    • The room is ready half an hour before the show, so the performer can arrive calmly.
    • The act is not scheduled as the very last thing. Halfway through the evening usually works best.

    Extra tips

Temperature. A comfortable room temperature matters more than you think, especially for the performer. Warm up a cold venue in winter well in advance.

Fragile items. Move glasses, vases and valuables out of the performance area. That keeps the show worry-free.

Parking and access. Give a full address in your request with floor, doorbell and parking options. That way the performer is at the door on time. More pitfalls are covered in common mistakes at a strip act.

Frequently asked questions about preparing the space

How big does the room need to be for a strip act?

For a solo act you need at least 3 by 3 metres of free floor space, for a duo act 4 by 4 metres. More space makes the show more impressive, but a living room is enough for most solo acts.

Do I need to provide music myself?

You agree that when booking. Many performers bring their own music on their phone and only ask for a speaker or sound system. In any case, make sure there is something to play music on.

Can a strip act take place in a bar or rented venue in Belgium?

Yes, provided the owner agrees and there is a closed-off room without unwanted spectators. Check that in advance, so there is no discussion on the night itself.

What if my room is too small?

Mention it in your request. Performers will tell you whether it works or suggest an adapted act. Sometimes another room or moving some furniture is all it takes.

Am I allowed to film the strip act?

Only with the performer's permission, and not every performer gives it. Ask in advance and make clear agreements with your guests.
